Adults are welcomed into the Catholic Church each year through the RCIA.

What is the RCIA? It is an acronym for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Simply, it is the process by which adult persons become members of the Catholic Church, and this preparation program is also known as Catechumenate.

Catechumenate, is an early church term that recognises the preparation period for a Catechumen. Who is a non-baptised person preparing for Baptism and initiation into the Catholic Church.

The RCIA takes place within a parish community, to allow the candidate to share in the life of the Church expressed in a local faith community. It offers a way to grow in knowledge of Christ and the Catholic faith.

The non-baptised who are suitably prepared are welcomed into the Catholic Church by the reception of the three Sacraments of Initiation, namely Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist.

People who are interested in becoming Catholic may contact the Parish Priest to discuss their interest and to enquire about taking the next step.
